Earth Day 2015!

Earth Day is right around the corner! Have you thought of the importance of this day?

We have. And so have our most beloved brands as well.

We don’t know how relevant it is to you, but to us, a brand that calls itself clean has to have clean ingredient, but we love it even more when they take it a step further.

Take Jane Iredale, for instance. We already love them for the amazing products they have to offer, but here are a few fun facts on just how much further they go for the environment:

1. Their new building is under application to receive a LEED Gold Award from the US Green Building Council.

2. They have a community garden, where food for their employees and their families is grown.

3. Their makeup is eco-friendly!

As for Eufora. Well, Eufora uses 75% pharmaceutical grade Aloe Vera in all its products! That alone guarantees amazing results, but there is more.

1. All their products are free from added water, fragrance and dyes.

2. Along with Aloe Vera, Eufora products utilize the most advanced botanical ingredients available, as well as pure essential oils to fragrance all products for an aromatherapy experience.

3. They don’t use synthetic fragrances, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, carcinogenic or suspected carcinogenic ingredients in any of our products.

What do you expect from brands labeling themselves as eco-friendly? And which changes are you making to celebrate Earth Day?

Snow Queen Makeup

Hi, everyone! Happy Saturday! Hope you are all having an amazing morning so far, and are out and about enjoying this wonderful weather!

It feels like winter is lasting forever, so we decided to fully embrace it by creating a Snow Queen look. We had a request from a potential client to do stage makeup, so we rolled up our sleeves and decided to try it out.

Thanks to Michelle (one of our amazing stylists) for allowing us to fully make her up, and go all out on white clown makeup foundation and the silver hair spray! You’re a trooper.

Mary started off by doing the hair (Michelle was already sporting some awesome blue strands, which worked perfectly with the look we were going for).

Here you see Mary braiding her hair and giving her some much needed lift on the front.

After some pulling and messing and bobby pinning, we loved the look.

Nothing better than to add some stencils to add up to the look!

We used some great theater makeup from Paint and Powder Cosmetics, and they have everything! Seriously, everything you need – from white clown, to glitter, to hair sprays, to fake blood. So, if you’re thinking of doing anything creative, it’s the place to go!

Here’s the final look!

And the details are all in the eyes, so here you go, a close up of the eye makeup!

What do you think? Would you ever go all out with your makeup? We know dancers/ actors usually have to be bolder in their makeup so it translates the look from the stage to the auditorium, so don’t be afraid to add more sparkle, and bolder colors!

Brides and Weddings Photoshoot

Hi, everyone!

We are here today with a fresh out of the oven news! A couple months ago we posted about a photo shoot we all did for Brides and Weddings magazine, with some talented vendors and great teams.

We will be back really soon with more tutorials! Check back this week!

Brides and Weddings Photoshoot

Hi, everyone! We are really excited about today’s post! And if you’re writing this, be prepared for some pictures galore!

We were honored to be invited by Cindie, from Brides and Weddings, to participate in a photo shoot that will be featured on their website, and will be published early next year. The group of vendors couldn’t be better, and we are just itching to share some of the behind the scenes!

The backdrop of the photo shoot? The gorgeous Marriott Ranch, in Hume. The venue is perfect for brides looking for a rustic chic feel to their wedding, and the Inn is quaint, and so full of charm it’s impossible to resist.

As I said we had such a great group of vendors on the day of, and our model was just a dream to work with. Here are some shots of Mary getting our model Carolyn, ready for the pictures. We featured two hairstyles and gave her airbrushed makeup for that all day flawless look.

Then it was out of the chair for some pictures. The lovely Lindsey and her team from The Glass Eyed Pony, were shooting all day long, and we were able to catch some lens action.

These girls are just hard working, and so passionate about their work. We are looking forward to the final result.

While they were snapping away, it was time for Miriam, over at Soliloquy Bridal and Mary to watch, and to adjust the hair and dress when needed.

After they finished taking all the pictures in the house, it was time to go outside with the other model of the day, and just how gorgeous is it?

And that was all supervised by the watchful eyes of Miriam and Mary, who made sure the dress and hair do were perfect on the shots.

Tired? There’s still some to go! Then it was time to change the do while the photographers moved to the Pavillion, where the receptions are usually held. I don’t want to give it all away, but even from afar how gorgeous is it?

The place was decorated beautifully with pieces from Diamond Events, and flowers provided by Cynthia, from Design in Bloom.

And of course, after a long day of beautiful weather, amazing company and a lovely time provided by Cindie and the staff at Marriott Ranch (Stephanie is just the nicest! She’s been in the ranch for a few years now, and made sure throughout the shoot that all her guests, and us, were enjoying our stay), we were lucky to get to taste some of the heavenly pastries from Victoria, over at Cakes by Happy Eatery.

Aquage Academy Workshop

Last week two of our stylists went to the Aquage Academy workshop in Baltimore, MD.

The event took place in the Hilton Hotel, Sunday and Monday. On the first day everyone got to work on their up-dos using mannequins provided by Aquage, whereas the second day was reserved for some business oriented workshops and new and advanced cutting techniques for upcoming year of 2014.

The workshop was a dream, and lasted about 8 hours a day. Here are some sneak peaks of the Up-dos from the first day workshop!

these were done by Michelle, our Hair Stylist

These ones were done by Alicia, our Master aesthetician and Apprentice

Of course the hairstyles are a bit edgier than what most people would want for an event, but they still look really amazing! We can’t wait for next year’s workshop!
