S is for Summer – and SPF

Today we’re taking a step back from our hair posts and focusing on our skin. After all, it needs love too, and we all want our skin to be plump, wrinkle free and clear of dark spots – no matter our age.

You might be thinking: well, summer is almost over, why talk about SPF now?

Well, truth is, as a lot of you already now, SPF should be applied daily – regardless of the season. Of course we amp up the SPF on summer, but sunscreen should be a daily step on your skin care routine!

Alicia, our aesthetician, is here to give you a few basic changes to your routine that will help prevent and even treat some of the problem areas in your skin.

“The first, and most crucial step, is to prevent sun damage. Everyone knows the importance of putting sunscreen on. Why is it then that so many people still don’t? Well, in my experience i saw people seem to think it’s a lot more complicated than it really is.”

There are ways to slowly introduce SPF into your routine without breaking the bank, or putting you behind on your schedule. iS clinical carries many products with SPF, allowing you to pick which one fits best into your lifestyle.

iS Clinical Protective Moisturizer

2 in 1, this moisturizer is hydrating, packed with antioxidants and perfect for daytime. Not only will it protect your skin from sun damage, it’ll hydrate it, minimizing the appearance of fine lines.

iS Clinical Extreme Protect SPF 30

If you’re looking for more protection, you should definitely look into this product. It has a very moisturizing formula, and not only helps to protect your skin, but it actually repairs the damage already done! It reduces redness and inflammation associated with sunburn, while delivering the most advance protection.

Eclipse SPF50+ Perfect Tint

This product comes in two shades: beige and brown. As the names suggest, beige is targeted to people with fair skin, whereas brown is perfect for Middle Eastern and African American skin tones. The product has a very light texture, absorbing quickly. Rich in antioxidants, vitamin E and paraben free, the Eclipse SPF50+ is ideal for all skin types.

Did you also know that most dermatologists recommend that you reapply your sunscreen multiple times a day? Sometimes 3-4 times! If you’re like me, you’re asking yourself: well, I already have my makeup on, so do I have to take it off and reapply the sunscreen?

Well, you definitely could, though most of us don’t have the time or patience to do that. That’s what’s really great about Jane Iredale products. Most of their powder foundations contain SPF and are approved by the Skin Cancer Society as to their sun protecting efficiency.

You can always go for a product like Powder Me Dry SPF30PA++

This handy powder comes in three shades: (from left to right) translucent, golden and tanned. While the golden and tanned deliver a beautiful glow-y bronzed look, the translucent can be worn on top of your makeup look, and won’t disturb or move your foundation, blush, etc. Just dust the powder all over your face, and voila! You’ve reapplied your SPF protection.

Daily Steps for Healthy Hair

Hi, everyone! Welcome back! To jump start this week we have a few nice tips on how to keep your hair healthy. We’ve touched, on the past posts, on what products to use on your hair. Beyond that, some choices you make throughout the day definitely matter on maintaining you hair healthy and soft.

Do no wash your hair daily!

This is one of the most well-known tip on the beauty world. Frequent washes will strip your hair off its natural oils. This will lead to dryer hair over time. Your hair needs the oils to be soft and shiny, and they are essential for a healthy scalp!

If you’re one of the people who have to wash your hair everyday – like swimmers, or trainers, or even oily hair-ed people – make sure to use a very mild shampoo, one that won’t strip your hair completely of its oils.

Use a wide tooth comb!

Some people prefer to brush their tangles out in the shower, with conditioner still on the hair. Others prefer to detangle when they get out of the sower, after towel drying their hair and applying leave-in conditioner.

Regardless of your choice, you should always be using a wide tooth comb for that. Wet hair is not only heavier, but extremely fragile as well! To avoid breakage as much as possible, pick a wide tooth comb ( we tend to pick plastic ones – wooden ones sometimes crack and get caught in the hair).

Comb slowly, starting on the ends and moving up the hair shaft. Hair tends to tangle towards the ends, so you want to target that first.

Stay away from the heat!

Reaching for that blow dryer or flat iron is, for some of us, second nature. Try to limit the amount of heat you use on your hair to about once a week at the most. Heat dries out the strand, and also increases your chances of breakage! The less heat, the better.

If you just have to blow dry your hair, wait for it to be at least 80% fully dried. And please, please use a heat protectant! You don’t know how much damage you will avoid just by adding this product into your life!

And there you are: 3 easy daily steps to healthy hair! Do you have any other tips that work for you?

Most Common Beauty Blunders

Hair Masks for Sun Damage

Good Morning everyone!

Continuing on with our summer inspired blog posts, today we are talking about hair masks that are perfect for your hair post sun exposure. We are sharing tips on products and masks that will add life and shine back to your hair.

1. Clay Mask

Eufora has a great hair mask, perfect for hydrating your hair without weighing it down. Damage Cure Clay Masque.

Using it is pretty simple too: just coat your hair strands after cleansing them, leave the mask on for 5-10 minutes at least ( the longer, the better!) and after thoroughly rinsing, follow up with your conditioner.

2. Urgent Repair Treatment

We’ve seen this guy before, and not surprisingly so. This is one of Eufora’s Holy grails! Use it as a deep conditioner at least once a week, and also let it sit on your hair for about 5-10 minutes before rinsing it out. If you have an oily scalp, avoid putting the product on your roots, focusing mid shaft and tips instead.

Another tip is to mix two pumps of Urgent Repair Treatment with a dime size amount of the Beautifying Serum. Apply to your whole head, including the scalp. The serum contains cranberry extract, argan oil and is rich in antioxidants, enhancing the treatment and locking in all the moisture. You will notice your hair feeling a lot smoother and hydrated after just the first use!

Post Beach/Pool Hair Care

We know how it goes: we spend all day in the water, focusing most of our attention on protecting our face and body from the sun. What most people don’t know, or are just not used to, is that their hair needs the same attention and protection as well!

In simple steps, you can make sure that your hair is protected against sun damage, and ready to go after your dip in the beach/pool.

1. Use Leave-in Conditioner!

The salt on beach water and also chlorine in the pool help dry out your strands, so adding moisture is a must! Work a pump of Eufora’s Hydration Leave-in conditioner through your hair, focusing on the ends, but still getting some of the root. The leave-in conditioner contains sunscreen, essential for protection against sun damage. It’s a 2 in 1 product! (Remember to repeat this step when you leave the water, to add moisture back.)

If you’re worried about sun damage, try using Eufora’s Elevate Finishing Spray, or Formatte Finishing Creme. Both products work similarly to coat the hair strands to avoid any UVA/UVB damage.

2. Replenish the Hair!

When rinsing your hair in the shower, focus on deep cleansing the roots with Eufora’s Pure Cleanse Shampoo.

Replenish your scalp and hair by adding back essential nutrients, with Urgent Repair Shampoo and Urgent Repair Replenishing Treatment. They provide heavy moisture that will, as their name suggest, repair the strand and restore vitality to dry, damaged hair.

Follow up with one more pump of the Hydrating Leave-in Conditioner, to lock in all the moisture from your shampoo and conditioner and voila!

It sounds like a lot of work, but over time you will see a huge improvement with your hair. By adding three to four products to your summer routine, you’ll get healthier, less damaged hair. That will end up saving you tons on conditioning treatments at the salon!

*Tip: Urgent Repair Replenishing Treatment can also be used on your skin post-sun exposure. The Menthol and Aloe Vera offer soothing and healing benefits for skin conditions and overexposure to the sun.

Which products do you already use when you go out to the pool/beach? Leave it in the comments bellow!
