Brush Strokes Salon is a different kind of hair salon. Tucked away in Historic Herndon, we're known to our loyal clientele for our personal attention, outstanding customer service and experienced family of hair stylists, colorists, nail technicians and make-up artists. Our staff is friendly and the atmosphere is like home should be, relaxing and inviting.

Our Philosophy

We think that going to the salon should be like visiting a favorite friend, one who makes you feel special each time you get together. We strive to make Brush Strokes Salon a refreshing change from other hair salons and day spas, and treat every salon guest like part of our family.

We pride ourselves on the consistency of our work and the experience of our team. Owner Mary E. Taylor provides continuing education for her team on the latest products and techniques. Every member of the Brush Strokes Team possesses the knowledge, creativity and technical precision to give you the look you want every time.

Green Salon

Walk into most hair salons and you’re greeted with a harsh chemical smell, thanks to the chemicals found in most hair color products.

We believe that green beauty care means better health and a cleaner environment. We feature many top earth friendly products, including Euphora, an aloe vera based hair care line that is low in ammonia and contains no petrochemicals. We also offer Spa Ritual natural nail care, which contains no toluene or formaldehyde.

Mary E. Taylor, Owner

Mary opened Brush Strokes Salon in 1998. She strives to make this gem of a salon a retreat where women can receive the best in hair care and beauty, and makes sure that every guest feels special and leaves looking fabulous! Mary’s professional certifications include: • Certified colorist • Eufora Strategic Solutions Academy • Kadus Boot camp for Advanced Highlighting Techniques • Jane Iredale Boot Camp for Make Up Artistry. Mary is a member of the Herndon-Dulles Chamber of Commerce, the Women’s Networking Association of Northern Virginia, and the National Association of Professional & Executive Women.

Sibyl S. Mayes, Clinical Skin Therapist & Nail Specialist

Sibyl is one of Northern Virginia’s premiere skin therapists and nail stylists. For nearly 20 years, Sibyl has combined her passion for clinical skin care with an artisan’s skill for making women radiant. Sibyl’s skin care services include relaxing facials, and painless face and body waxing. Her expertise in natural nail care and artificial nail design is unrivaled.
