Daily Steps for Healthy Hair

Hi, everyone! Welcome back! To jump start this week we have a few nice tips on how to keep your hair healthy. We’ve touched, on the past posts, on what products to use on your hair. Beyond that, some choices you make throughout the day definitely matter on maintaining you hair healthy and soft.

Do no wash your hair daily!

This is one of the most well-known tip on the beauty world. Frequent washes will strip your hair off its natural oils. This will lead to dryer hair over time. Your hair needs the oils to be soft and shiny, and they are essential for a healthy scalp!

If you’re one of the people who have to wash your hair everyday – like swimmers, or trainers, or even oily hair-ed people – make sure to use a very mild shampoo, one that won’t strip your hair completely of its oils.

Use a wide tooth comb!

Some people prefer to brush their tangles out in the shower, with conditioner still on the hair. Others prefer to detangle when they get out of the sower, after towel drying their hair and applying leave-in conditioner.

Regardless of your choice, you should always be using a wide tooth comb for that. Wet hair is not only heavier, but extremely fragile as well! To avoid breakage as much as possible, pick a wide tooth comb ( we tend to pick plastic ones – wooden ones sometimes crack and get caught in the hair).

Comb slowly, starting on the ends and moving up the hair shaft. Hair tends to tangle towards the ends, so you want to target that first.

Stay away from the heat!

Reaching for that blow dryer or flat iron is, for some of us, second nature. Try to limit the amount of heat you use on your hair to about once a week at the most. Heat dries out the strand, and also increases your chances of breakage! The less heat, the better.

If you just have to blow dry your hair, wait for it to be at least 80% fully dried. And please, please use a heat protectant! You don’t know how much damage you will avoid just by adding this product into your life!
